Pasta has always been a very popular food dish all around the world from its origin of ancient china were the now popular Asian noodles were first made, to its many unique dishes in the country of Italy. The artform of pasta making is something people all around the earth have tried, and these are some of its finest pieces.
A variation of the Chinese noodle is a dish from Thailand called Pad-Thai which means “to stir fry”. The popular dish was created in the 1930s by Plaek Phibunsongkhram, who was the prime minister at the time. The pasta is made with stir-fried rice noodles and with vinegar, sugar, Tamarind paste and sometimes sesame oil. This is then toped of with garnishes like carrots, peanuts, and chicken.
Ramen is soup with many garnishes on top and with a hefty amount of egg noodles. The dish originates in china where wheat noodles were placed in a soup and served hot. The food was then introduced to japan in 1859 were Japanese people then added their own twist to it like miso ramen which is essentially ramen noodles inside a miso soup. In the year 1910 the first ramen shop was opened in Asakusa, Tokyo were at the time the dish was called Shina Soba. Whatever name the Japanese dish will always be liked by many around the world.
Spaghetti and meatballs
The American classic spaghetti and meatballs can be found in every corner you look at and there is a good reason for that. Unlike what you would think spaghetti and meatballs is a pasta dish created in the states not in Italy, in fact going to Italy the only reason most restaurants serve the dish is to satisfy American tourist. The true origin of the dish is an Italian immigrant creating it in New York were there was a much higher meat supply than anywhere in Italy. Spaghetti and meatballs often consist of an egg noodle base with marinara sauce, topped with meatballs of many kinds.
Macaroni and cheese
Macaroni and cheese have always been a classic dish for anyone wanting pasta in a pinch, but it was not always like that. The name mac’ n’ cheese was created by Kraft in the year 1937 were it was an immediate hit and was loved by millions. Boxes came with easy to make pasta with cheese sauce that was to be mixed in with the pasta. The first time a dish similar to what we now know as mac’ n’ cheese was in the Italian cookbook “De Lasanis” were it detailed an oven baked pasta casserole with parmesan cheese. Later in the year 1769 a recipe for pasta noodles with cheese was first created. The classic dish has been very popular dish due to its easy to make process and deliciousness and will most likely stay that way.
The ravioli is one my personal favorite pasta dishes due to its variety and deliciousness. Ravioli consists of a egg pasta filled with different filings like cheese, meat, and spinach. It is then surrounded by a sauce and then topped of with grated cheese or other toppings. The concept of ravioli was first thought of when the “torta” was listed in a cookbook that defined a thick pie crust with different fillings inside. This later inspired pasta makers to fill their pasta shapes with fillings. These pasta shapes were referred to as “tortello” which means small torta. Many pasta makers created pastas with different fillings changing the names and shapes based on their region of Italy.
