The Coronavirus Outbreak

The number of cases has jumped as high as 60% according to a recent article by the New York Times. Scientist warn the number is rapidly growing and can highly affect the USA. China’s cities have been shut down, what’s next?  

According to recent New York Times article, Hong Kong has severely limited travel from mainland China & has suspended high-speed rail services and is now cutting flights in half CBS News there have been 15  confirmed cases in the USA and 75,000(in world)confirmed, people should expect many more. BBC News the death toll has raised above 2,000 globally. According to a recent Los Angeles Times article on 1/29/20 a plane arrived in LA carrying 201 Americans reportedly evacuated from china, the center of the corona virus outbreak. 

According to BBC News there is currently no cure for the corona virus but currently in hospitals citizens are being treated for their symptoms. According to NPR the corona virus originated in animals and then reportedly was transferred to a Chinese citizen and spread to the rest of china creating this global outbreak. WUSF News reported the corona virus has not yet spread to Florida but according to CDC there are possibly 72 cases being monitored across the USA. According to the CDC the outbreak started in the Wuhan China. 

How can citizens avoid the corona virus? Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands. Stay home from work or School if you have a fever. Stay away from people who have signs of a respiratory tract infection, such as running nose, coughing, and sneezing. ( Harvard health)

According to the CDC there’s a mask called an N95 respirator. These respirators are designed to fit tightly around the nose and mouth, and, when worn correctly, block out at least 95% of small airborne particle which can be a key item to protect from corona virus.  

The corona virus is a dangerous virus that has impacted thousands and has killed hundreds this is for sure a virus that we need to look out for.
